Hi, My parents also could not stand each other. My father cheated on my mother while I was just 5 or six years old. She never forgave him, as he should have just kept it in his pants....
Having said that. They never seperated and continued to live together for 30+ years. Always arguing, complaining, resenting eachother and through all the birthdays, family events whatever, there was always some friction to notice. Which had a huge impact on our social lives (mine, my sisters and brothers as well). We never had any company, we never did anything as a family again, the whole family knew about it (nephews, nieces aunts, uncles etcetera) and the fact that my mother and father hated eachother, always was a factor.
All I can say now is that in my situation, it would have been better if they would have just separated and continue to live apart from eachother. Maybe even find love and happieness with a different partner.
I can tell you from experience that sometimes its a bitter pill to swallow, but it could be for the best of it just to seperate.
Its never an easy thing, but it might just give you and your love ones a fresh start. Life is too short to be constantly involved in drama.
Goodluck with this my dear friend. Wish you all the luck you need.
